9:31 am: UEFA fines Fenerbahce 50,000 euros after pro-Putin chants

The European Football Union on Friday imposed a fine of 50,000 euros on Turkish club Fenerbahçe to sanction the slogans chanted by some of its supporters in favor of Russian President Vladimir Putin during a match against Ukrainian Dynamo kyiv on 27 last July in Istanbul.

UEFA has also imposed a partial closure of the Turkish club's stadium, with the condemnation of at least 5,000 seats, during its next European home match.

The European body specifies in a press release that these measures were decided in response to “throwing of objects and the transmission of a provocative message of an offensive nature, namely illicit songs”.

9:14 a.m .: In Hiroshima, UN chief says humanity is “playing with a loaded gun”

Humanity is "playing with a loaded gun" in the context of the current crises with nuclear connotations, warned the UN secretary general in Hiroshima on the occasion of the 77th anniversary on Saturday of the American atomic bombing of Japan.

At an annual ceremony held in the Japanese city to honor the victims of the 1945 bombing, Antonio Guterres made a strong appeal to world leaders to remove nuclear weapons from their arsenals.

77 years ago, “tens of thousands of people were suddenly killed in this city.

Women, children and men were cremated in an infernal fire,” he said.

Today, “crises with strong nuclear connotations are spreading rapidly, from the Middle East to the Korean Peninsula to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Humanity is playing with a loaded gun,” said Antonio Guterres, reiterating the warnings he issued this week at a conference of countries signatories to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in New York.

On Friday, the Russians once again shelled Mykolaiv, a town not far from the southern front.

A curfew has been introduced in this city until Monday morning in order to neutralize the "collaborators" of the Russians, said the governor of the region Vitali Kim.

Ukrainian forces are currently conducting a counter-offensive in the south, where they claim to have recaptured more than 50 villages that fell from Russian soldiers.
