Sivakov, 25, signed his third success in a stage race after his victories in 2019 in the Tour of the Alps and the Tour of Poland.

Attacked by his rivals in the general in the last hectometres of the final ascent (11.5 kilometers at 6% average) of the queen stage of the Spanish event, the roller-climber of the Ineos training hung in the wheels of Almeida and Colombian Miguel Angel Lopez, 2nd at the finish, to complete the podium 7 seconds behind the winner.

In the final general classification, Sivakov leads Almeida and Lopez by 35 seconds.

Spaniard Carlos Rodriguez and Belgian Ilan Van Wilder complete the podium more than 40 seconds behind.

Second in the Clasica San Sebastian won last weekend by the Belgian Remco Evenepoel, Sivakov advances as one of the men in the form of the moment when he must participate in the Tour of Spain (August 19 - September 11) with the aim of getting close to the best in the general classification.

Born in Italy but residing in France (in Paris then in Haute-Garonne) since the age of one, Sivakov, who had Russian and French passports, had obtained from the UCI to be able to run under a French license in last March, shortly after the Russian army's offensive in Ukraine.

Sivakov is the third Frenchman to win the Tour de Burgos, after Armand de Las Cuevas and Laurent Jalabert, respectively in 1994 and 1997.
