The heat wave continues to sweep over France.

This weekend, the southeast is particularly affected with temperatures between 36 and 39 degrees according to Météo France.

In Marseille, where it was 36 degrees this Saturday, the beaches are one of the last places in the city to find freshness.

Before the fourth heat wave, expected next week, the temperature does not drop, especially in the south of France.

In Marseille, the temperature reached 36 degrees this Saturday.

For locals and tourists, swimming remains the best way to cool off.

Davia, surfboard under her arm, has been going to Escale Borély beach since she was a child.

For her, it is the best place to cool off, despite the heat which makes the days less and less bearable.

"As soon as we come out of the water we are immediately hot, it's exhausting. And when we get back home, we are suffocating," she breathes.

Watch out for heatstroke

Cassie and Stéphane have arrived from Belgium for a few days of vacation by the sea. And they appreciate being able to enjoy the beach.

"I can't stand the heat already in Belgium, so the sea helps, and it's windy," says Cassie, about to go back to swimming.

With his trolley filled with darlings, donuts and cold drinks, the one who calls himself "Mister Freeze", sees well that at midday, at the hottest hours, he only sells water.

It is only when the temperature drops again at the end of the afternoon that the Marseillais and the tourists "become greedy again", he smiles.

A little further, at the aid station, the teams of lifeguards remain vigilant to try to spot any heat stroke and sunstroke among the holidaymakers.

Because despite the access to water, heat stroke quickly arrived on the beaches.

The only solutions: stay hydrated and cover your head.
