To be allowed to fish for crayfish in Svartån, a crayfish fishing license is required.
The crayfish must be at least 10 centimeters in size, otherwise it must return to the water.
According to Patrik Zvar, head of crayfish fishing in Västerås, the most common beginner's mistake is fishing on the wrong type of bottom.
- Many people put in the cage where they think the crayfish are, i.e. slimy areas with a few stones.
But crayfish want a lot of rocky areas and they want to stand where there is a little movement in the water, he says.
