Apple plans to launch the new version of the mobile operating system "iOS 16" and the "Mac OS Ventura" operating system for Mac computers this fall.

Continuity Camera function

The American company indicated the launch of the new "Contiuity Camera" function, which allows the ability to use the iPhone's smartphone camera as a webcam with Mac computers.

To use this new function, Apple announced the availability of a small holder that can be used to install the iPhone smartphone on the edge of the screen on Mac computers, and the new “Contiuity Camera” function is turned on in many applications. On the iPhone smartphone, it can continue this video chat without interruption on the Mac computer.

The advantages of the new "Contiuity Camera" are not only limited to the superior quality of the smartphone camera during video conferencing, but many interesting additional functions can be used with different cameras, for example, the ultra-wide-angle lens can be used to show the user's face or the office from a bird's eye perspective in the same time.

The Office View feature is important when the user wants to display graphics during a video chat, as well as being suitable for recording video clips.

Other advantages of using the iPhone's smartphone camera as a webcam include the ability to use follow mode, portrait mode, and an effect known as studio light, which illuminates the user's face and darkens the background.

Android phones

As for smartphones equipped with the Google Android operating system, it does not include any mode of using the smartphone as a webcam, in addition to the absence of any plans in this direction in the future, mainly because the Google Android system does not currently have a version for computers.

But this reason, of course, did not prevent developers from designing new solutions, as the company "Dev47Apps" developed the "Droidcam" application, which allows the ability to use the camera of a smartphone or tablet equipped with the Google Android system as a webcam with computers Equipped with Microsoft Windows and Linux.

This application requires the availability of 3 technical requirements;

The first is that the Android mobile device, which will be used as a webcam, works on the same wireless network as a laptop or desktop computer, and the second is that the DroidCam application must be installed on the mobile device.

The third condition is that the DroidCam program must be installed on the computer, which includes the technical equipment required to create audio and video, so that the camera of the smartphone equipped with the Google Android system can be used with video chat programs such as Zoom, Skype, Webex and Times ( Teams) and others.

The user can download the software for computers from the developer's website, in addition to viewing a list of inquiries and answers to solve any potential problem.
