Tunisia .. Kais Saied criticizes the "selective" policies of immigration to Western countries

Tunisian President Kais Saied criticized Western immigration policies in light of the great polarization of Tunisian specialized competencies.

Said said in a speech celebrating the flag day in Tunisia, "I told many officials from abroad, who lends to whom?", referring to the loans that Tunisia receives from its partners and from Western countries.

"We loan them talents and minds that are not valued for money," Saeed said.

Thousands of Tunisia's top talent, including doctors and engineers, are leaving the country due to widespread unemployment and low wages.

Most of them go to European countries and North America.

But Saied also criticized what he considered a "selective immigration policy" envisaged by the West because of the restrictions imposed on a large scale on Tunisian immigration and freedom of movement, which pushes many to take boats and head to European coasts illegally.

More than one million and 700 thousand Tunisians live abroad, while the National Observatory for Migration in Tunisia estimated the number of migrants leaving the country annually at about 36 thousand.
