On August 4, 2022, Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng was ordered to summon Ni Jiemin, Chargé d'affaires ad interim of the Canadian Embassy in China, to lodge solemn representations and strong protests against the erroneous Taiwan-related statement issued by the G7 Foreign Ministers and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
Xie Feng said that the G7 statement confounds right and wrong, and China strongly condemns it.
Pelosi's visit to Taiwan seriously violated the one-China principle and the three Sino-US joint communiques, severely impacted the political foundation of Sino-US relations, seriously violated China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and seriously undermined the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait.
The US has continuously challenged China's bottom line, undermined China's core interests, and led to escalating tensions.
The current situation is caused by the US, and of course the US should bear the full responsibility.
The U.S. provoked and played with fire first, and the Chinese counterattacked later, which is reasonable, legal and justifiable.

Xie Feng pointed out that the G7 declared that the thief called to catch the thief and blatantly violated the basic norms of international relations.

More than 100 countries and international organizations, including the United Nations, reiterated their support for the one-China principle.
The G7 does not represent the international community at all.
The G7 countries should recognize the general trend and not stand against the 1.4 billion Chinese people, against most countries in the world, and against international justice.
China urges the Canadian side to immediately correct its mistakes, respect the facts, distinguish right from wrong, stop following and participating in camp confrontation, and stop taking wrong words and deeds on Taiwan-related issues, otherwise all consequences will be borne by the Canadian side.
