Prime Minister Kishida confirmed his intention to retain Vice President Aso and Secretary-General Motegi in the Liberal Democratic Party executive appointments.

Prime Minister Kishida has decided to reshuffle the Cabinet and appoint officers of the Liberal Democratic Party as early as the 10th of next week, and is proceeding with the selection of personnel.

Prime Minister Kishida has so far confirmed his intention to retain Liberal Democratic Party vice president Taro Aso and secretary-general Toshimitsu Motegi.

After serving as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance for nearly nine years since the second Abe Cabinet, Mr. Aso was appointed Deputy President of the LDP with the inauguration of the Kishida administration last autumn.

Motegi took over as secretary-general following the resignation of then-secretary-general Amari after he was defeated in the single-seat constituency in the House of Representatives election last autumn.

Both of them serve as chairmen of the second faction, the Motegi faction, and the third faction, the Aso faction, respectively. .

Based on his victory in the House of Councilors election last month, Prime Minister Kishida seems to have the aim of continuing to stabilize the political foundation by having both of them, who have supported the administration at the core, remain in office.
