Japanese Prime Minister Kishida discussed with Pelosi the situation around Taiwan and the Ukrainian crisis

Kishida said that they "had an exchange of views on a number of international topics, including China, North Korea," the situation in Ukraine.

"Furthermore, we reaffirmed that Japan and the United States will work closely together to maintain peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait," he said.

Earlier, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said that Beijing will definitely take all necessary countermeasures in connection with Pelosi's visit to Taiwan.

At the same time, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov linked Pelosi's trip to Taiwan with Washington's desire to demonstrate its permissiveness and impunity.

Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev called Pelosi's trip to Taiwan a "malicious provocation."
