Gaza -

After days of tension and alertness following the arrest of the prominent leader of Islamic Jihad in Jenin in the West Bank, Bassam al-Saadi, Israel launched a military campaign against the movement, which began with the assassination of the commander of the Northern Front in Saraya al-Quds, Taysir al-Jabari, and targeting several sites of the movement in the Gaza Strip.

Immediately after the Israeli aggression, the Islamic Jihad movement went out on the tongues of leaders at home and abroad, declaring that "there are no mediations now, and there is no talk of any calm."

The question remains: Why did Israel resort to this military campaign - which it called "The Truthful Dawn" - against the Islamic Jihad movement, and will it succeed in its efforts to neutralize the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) from this confrontation, or will the situation develop into a wide war?

Who is Tayseer Al-Jabari?

Martyr Taysir al-Jabari, is a member of the Military Council of the Al-Quds Brigades, the military arm of the Islamic Jihad movement. Since 2019, he succeeded his predecessor, the martyr Baha Abu Al-Atta, in commanding the military brigades for the Gaza and Northern Districts. prominent and important in it.

Al-Jabari was born in 1972 (50 years old), and joined the Islamic Jihad movement since his childhood, and completed his university studies in Islamic law from the Islamic University of Gaza.

He was arrested in the prisons of the Zionist enemy for several years, as well as in the prisons of the Palestinian Authority security several times after the Oslo agreement.

According to sources in the Islamic Jihad Movement, al-Jabari worked as an assistant for the martyr Abu al-Atta for years, and previously survived Israeli assassinations targeting him, most notably in 2012 and 2014.

Jihad will respond with force

The writer and political analyst close to the Islamic Jihad movement, Dr. Hassan Abdo - told Al Jazeera Net - that it was Israel that pushed towards a spiral of violence with the Islamic Jihad movement, which has not taken any military action since its announcement of "general alert" in the ranks of the Al-Quds Brigades, its military arm, after The crime of arrest and torture of the Saadi leader in Jenin.

Abdo believes that "Jihad has not yet said its word, and it will have a reaction that is proportional to the crime committed by Israel in Gaza, as well as its crimes in the West Bank."

Abdo expects that the situation will degenerate into a "widespread confrontation", and may develop into a war that extends for days in which the resistance factions in Gaza will participate on the side of the Islamic Jihad movement.

Regarding Israel’s motives for launching this campaign on Gaza, Abdo believes that Israel’s internal problems push its leaders to export their crises towards Gaza, and use “Palestinian blood in the election and competition machine,” but he said: “Israel will realize that its calculations are wrong, and jihad and resistance will have a reaction commensurate with the extent of these crimes.

The resistance has not yet responded to the new Israeli aggression, which has so far resulted in the death of 8 Palestinians - the most prominent of whom is the prominent leader of the Al-Quds Brigades, Tayseer al-Jabari - and the wounding of 40 others, in intensive Israeli raids on separate parts of the Gaza Strip.

In this context, Hamas held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for this escalation, stressing that "the resistance is united with all its factions in this battle."

In the movement's first reaction to the Israeli aggression, Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said, "The Israeli enemy is the one who started the escalation against the resistance in Gaza, and committed a new crime, and he must pay the price and bear full responsibility for it."

Barhoum stressed that "the resistance, with all its military arms and factions, is united in this battle, and it will say its word with full force, and it is no longer possible to accept the continuation of this situation as it is."

He said, "The valiant resistance will defend our people and our people with everything it possesses, and will balance deterrence and will continue to pursue the occupation and will defeat it as it defeated it in all battles and in all arenas, especially this battle as well, and all arenas must open their fires on the enemy and the herds of settlers."
