Security sources in the Palestinian enclave state that airstrikes are taking place in several parts of the territory.
The attacks come four days after Israel closed its two border crossings with Gaza and restricted the movement of Israeli civilians living near the border, citing security concerns.
The measures were taken after two high-ranking members of the Islamic Jihad militant group were arrested in the occupied West Bank on Monday.
The group has a strong presence in Gaza and Israel fears retaliatory attacks.
