Of Folkets Hus, which is located in Mörsil, an urban area in Åre municipality, only rubble from three chimneys, roofing sheet, bricks and concrete remains.

Several excavators cleared the rubble during the Friday morning.

Appalled Mörsil residents stood and looked at the remains of the house.

Property owner Mikael Östling, who also owns Brinkeboda Wärdshus, has a series of financial setbacks behind him.

- My last few years have been extremely hard.

I have had to cut my expenses and the house was no longer insured.

I can't afford to rebuild the house, it will be an empty asphalt surface.

The four people who lived in the house are unharmed and have been accommodated in other homes.

- Yes, two people live at the hotel and a third person can stay with a friend, says Mikael Östling.

He looks tired, but is relieved that the residents made it.

When he arrived at Folkets Hus it was 2.30am.

The heat was then indescribable.

The flames were twice as high as the house.

- And that's how it looked for an hour and a half, he says.
