The Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia detained a local resident on the territory of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic who planned to stage a terrorist attack in a crowded place.

According to the department, the man was going to commit a terrorist attack against employees of the republican law enforcement agencies and military personnel under the patronage of the Right Sector organization *.

“The offender, at the direction of the coordinators, planned to commit a sabotage and terrorist act and then leave for the territory of Ukraine,” the organization said in a statement.

The security forces found two improvised explosive devices with a capacity of about 3 kg of TNT each and components for the manufacture of IEDs at the attacker's address and in a cache equipped by him.

The detainee also found schemes of approaches to the buildings of the prosecutor's office and the military registration and enlistment office, the means of communication he used included correspondence with active members of the Right Sector organization, in which his criminal intentions were mentioned, as well as the symbols of this organization.

A criminal case has been initiated and is being investigated under Part 1 of Art.

30 p. "a" part 2 of Art.

205 (“Preparation for a terrorist act”), Part 2 of Art.

282.2 (“Participation in an extremist organization”) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

As noted in the FSB, the detainee gives confessions.

On the video of the detention published by the department, the man answers in the affirmative to the question whether he was going to stage a terrorist attack in Cherkessk.

According to him, the prosecutor's office and the military registration and enlistment office were chosen as targets for the attack.

The detainee added that after completing this task, he had to leave by train for Belgorod for subsequent entry into the Right Sector.

At the end of July, in Lipetsk, the FSB also prevented a terrorist attack, which was prepared by the militants of the group, created by the "Right Sector" under the auspices of the Security Service of Ukraine.

As stated then in the department, three Ukrainian citizens were detained: a man born in 1988 (the leader, who had previously been repeatedly convicted of pedophilia) and two women who were part of a sabotage and reconnaissance group.

According to the FSB, the attackers entered the territory of Russia in order to detonate an improvised explosive device in the conditions of a large crowd of people at the Sokol bus station in Lipetsk.

As specified in the regional department of the FSB in the Lipetsk region, all three detainees received special training from foreign instructors in sabotage and reconnaissance at the Desna training center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It should be noted that in July, FSB officers also prevented an attempt to hijack Russian combat aircraft, which was planned to be carried out by representatives of the military intelligence of Ukraine under the supervision of NATO special services.

According to the agency, the Ukrainian side intended to recruit Russian pilots for a monetary reward and guarantees of obtaining citizenship of one of the European countries.

It was planned that the hijacking would be carried out during a sortie, followed by the landing of aircraft at airfields controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In the same month, the FSB detained a resident of St. Petersburg in Crimea who intended to leave the country to join an illegal armed formation on the territory of Ukraine.

According to the department, the man had previously completed an accelerated course in medical, tactical and firearms training.

In addition, in July, the FSB also announced the identification of a citizen of Ukraine who arrived in Russia with an assignment from the 5th Directorate of the Counterintelligence Department of the SBU to collect and transfer information about the movement of Russian military equipment through the territory of the Rostov region.

Also in July, the FSB identified a Russian who transferred money to a fund registered in Ukraine.

An official warning was announced to him, since his actions create conditions for the commission of a crime under Art.

275 of the Criminal Code ("Treason").
