America: 40 million people are at risk of food insecurity due to the Ukraine war

US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas Greenfield warned Friday that the Russian invasion of Ukraine would leave 40 million people food insecure and sub-Saharan Africa would be hardest hit.

She said that the United States was able to secure $4.5 billion for food security at the G7 summit, and contributed $2.76 billion.

She added that Africans "do not want to be pressured to choose a side in the conflict" in a repeat of what happened during the Cold War, but they need to know the facts.
