Russia's independent pollster released the results of a poll this week on the conflict with Ukraine.

76% of those who support military invasion have not changed much from previous surveys.

However, commentator Kazuhiro Ishikawa, who has covered Russia for many years, points out that there is a big difference in attitudes toward war between generations.

Expert commentator Ishikawa also says that he feels that this war could bring ethnic problems to the fore.

“Russia is ethnically Russian, with 80% of the population being ethnically Russian, but it is a multi-ethnic country with more than 180 ethnic minorities, some of whom believe in Mongoloids and Buddhism. However, this kind of "Asia within Russia" is about to generate a strong rejection of Russia."
