The King of Norway was hospitalized with a fever

The Royal Palace announced that King Harald V of Norway, 85, was taken to hospital on Thursday for tests after suffering from a fever.

The king, who ascended the throne 31 years ago, has suffered from several health problems recently, including contracting Covid, knee surgery in 2021 and respiratory problems in 2020.

The palace said in a brief statement that his condition was "stable".

The king underwent surgery in 2003 for bladder cancer and then another operation in 2005 for heart valve problems, and the valve was replaced in another operation in 2020.

Despite his health problems, the Olympic yacht racing king refused to abdicate and felt fine for last week's World Sailing Championships.

Harald became crown prince in 1957 after the death of his grandfather, King Haakon VII, and then king after his father's death in 1991.
