The Rudolf August Oetker Foundation for Art, Culture, Science and Monument Preservation is moving from Bielefeld to Frankfurt and will be headed by Birgit Sander from November 1, 2022, who is leaving her post as Director of the Museum Giersch at Goethe University.

This emerges from a statement from the Goethe University on Thursday.

Established in 1998, the foundation supports cultural institutions throughout Germany.

In Frankfurt, she helped the Freies Deutsches Hochstift in 2019 with the purchase of Robert Schumann's "Sketches on Goethe's Faust" and is currently sponsoring the exhibition "Drawing in the Age of Goethe", which can be seen in the German Romantic Museum from August 27th.

Sander, who was born in 1964, has worked at Schaumainkai since the Giersch Foundation founded the museum in 2000.

The art historian has been in charge of the house, which was transferred to the sponsorship of the Goethe University in 2015, since 2020.

She also becomes managing director of the Rudolf August Oetker GmbH art collection, which is also to be based in Frankfurt.

The collection built up by the businessman, who died in 2007, belongs to Geschwister Oetker Beteiligungen KG, in which his three younger children have combined their business interests, which are separate from their older siblings, since 2021.

Among them is Henkell Freixenet in Wiesbaden, which contributes 1.3 billion euros to the total turnover of 2 billion euros.
