Region Kronoberg already informed in June of this year that the emergency operations needed to coordinate operations as a result of the nursing shortage during the summer.

So far, no patients have had to be referred further, but this is expected to increase during weeks 31 and 32 due to less staffing.

- Due to difficulties in staffing both the emergency rooms in Ljungby and Växjö, we have had to review this coordination.

We have more vacancies at the emergency department in Växjö and therefore some of the staff in Ljungby needed to go to Växjö and work, says Florence Hägg, who is hospital director in Region Kronoberg.

According to hospital director Florence Hägg, every patient who comes into the emergency room in Ljungby will receive an assessment, but if there is high pressure and if the patient does not have life-threatening injuries, they can be referred to the emergency room or primary care in Växjö.
