The story of perhaps Sweden's most legendary hockey player begins in Kiruna and in the area around the Matojärvi hockey barn.

It was here that Börje Salming grew up and learned the basics of ice hockey before the continued adventures in Tre kronor and the NHL.

Castings just a stone's throw from the hockey barn

This is also where the six-episode TV series begins.

As if by chance, interviews and stage tests before the recordings are held just two hard hitting shots from Matojärvi in a conference room at a hotel and camping facility.

One of those looking for one of the smaller roles is Annica Henelund, everyday entrepreneur and local politician for the Centre.

She has been involved before when it has been filmed for both television and feature film in the Kiruna area.

- It still feels a little extra fun when it's about Börje Salming, she says.

People who blend into the 60s era

The role of the adult Börje Salming has already been cast.

It is played by Valter Skarsgård, who has been practicing skating and club technique for a couple of years.

In Kiruna, they are looking for, among other things, the young Börje, mother Karin and trainer Rune Lantto.

But you will also need lots of extras who can blend into the late 1960s in period clothes and hairstyles.

They also strive for the local feel.

- We want to find the Kiruna population so that you get dialect and character, says Jasmina Kytylä, extras manager.

In the clip, we sneak a peek at the test footage.
