Foreign Minister Hayashi held talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Prak Sokhon of Cambodia, which serves as the chair country of ASEAN, and conveyed his intention to support ASEAN's efforts to overcome the situation in Myanmar as much as possible.

On the morning of the 4th, Foreign Minister Hayashi, who is visiting Cambodia for a series of foreign ministers' meetings of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Prak Sokhon of Cambodia, which serves as the chair country of ASEAN.



In this speech, Foreign Minister Hayashi touched on the fact that next year will mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Cambodia, and said, "I would like to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries, which is at the highest level in history."



Regarding the situation in Myanmar, he expressed his deep concern over the execution of lawmakers who were close aides of Aung San Suu Kyi. I told them my thoughts on supporting them.



In response, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Prak Sokhon expressed his gratitude for Japan's unwavering support, and expressed his intention to work together with Japan to resolve the situation.



In addition, the two ministers shared the view that they will continue to strengthen cooperation on regional issues such as the South China Sea and North Korea, in addition to the situation in Ukraine.
