A mother on the run for eleven years, sentenced in her absence by French justice for not presenting her daughter to her ex-husband, was extradited from Switzerland and brought before a judge on Thursday, the Toulon prosecution announced.

Subject of two arrest warrants, eleven years after fleeing France, the mother of the family was arrested in Switzerland, in the canton of Vaud where she had settled, during a simple road check, according to concordant sources .

She was extradited on Tuesday, according to a source familiar with the matter, following an extradition request from France issued in March.

As early as 2008, "the couple was floundering and separated"

Priscillia Majani was presented to the judge of freedoms and detention on Thursday with a view to her placement in pre-trial detention or under judicial supervision until her appearance, scheduled for September 16 before the Toulon court, according to a press release from the Toulon prosecutor's office.

Reached by AFP, the lawyer for Madame Majani's ex-husband, Me Olivier Ferri, explained that his client had had "no clues, no news" from his daughter since the leak organized by Madame Majani in 2011.

As early as 2008, according to Me Ferri, "the couple was struggling and separated", before Ms. Majani began divorce proceedings.

The two ex-spouses fought a legal battle for custody of the child, until the mother "disappeared with the little girl".

Slanderous and false denunciations against her ex-husband

Today the child, aged 16, has been entrusted to the Swiss organization responsible for child protection and her father does not have the right to see her, deplored Me Ferri.

The father of the child has filed multiple complaints against his ex-wife for eleven years for non-presentation of the child, and obtained, in 2011 and 2016, his sentence to one year of imprisonment (sentence today prescribed) and then to three years' imprisonment.

Ms. Marjani was also sentenced in 2015 to two years in prison for slanderous and false denunciations brought against her ex-husband, whom she had accused of rape and sexual assault on their daughter, a procedure closed without further action.

Ms. Majani filed an opposition to the last two judgments, delivered in her absence, and will therefore be tried again in September.
