A month ago, a group of dancers from the Eyas Dance Project and Ivonna companies who were participating in the Figueres es Mou dance festival denounced a homophobic attack.

They were returning from dinner after performing when they met a group of teenagers who recognized them by shouting "It's the fag that danced!".

They were then pushed and beaten, kicked and even threatened with a knife when they tried to escape.

The dancers of the Eyas Dance Project denounced the homophobic aggression in Alicante as they traveled after Figueres because they had a performance in the city.

Weeks later, the Mossos d'Esquadra arrested two men and investigated three more for this attack.

All the suspects are minors except one who is 21 years old and is accused of crimes against fundamental rights and injuries.

The Mossos point out that the detainees, three boys and two girls, insulted the victims with homophobic content during the performance and that they later assaulted the dancers when they returned to their accommodation.

The adult detainee will testify before the court in charge of the investigation while the minors will go to the Girona Juvenile Prosecutor's Office.

After learning of the attack, the organization of the Figueres es Mou festival showed its "unconditional support and solidarity" to a group of artists who suffered the homophobic attack.

The festival underlines its "rejection and the most absolute condemnation of this aggression and hate crime based on gender and sexual orientation", adding that these attacks are "unacceptable in a democratic and healthy society".

In addition, they expressed their "anguish over the increase in attacks and hate crimes that are taking place in our country" since "this attack represents both an attack on freedom of expression, since the victims of this attack were also attacked. for the content and aesthetics of his show«.
