The UN Secretary General announced the launch of a mission to investigate the situation with the shelling of the pre-trial detention center in Yelenovka

According to him, the UN "received requests from Russia and Ukraine to conduct an investigation."

“I have made the decision, in accordance with my powers and capabilities, to launch a fact-finding mission,” Guterres was quoted as saying by TASS.

Earlier, the UN stated that they were considering the possibility of investigating the attack on the pre-trial detention center in Yelenovka. 

Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Representative of Russia to the UN, said that the country expects the UN to immediately assess the shelling of the pre-trial detention center in Yelenovka.
