Iraqi President Barham Salih called for calm and a sincere dialogue focused on giving priority to the supreme national interest to get out of the current crisis, while the US ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, announced that the United States would not interfere in the formation of the new Iraqi government.

In detail, Iraqi President Barham Salih affirmed yesterday that the conditions in the country require a commitment to calm and an honest dialogue dealing with the political situation in order to reach a clear roadmap.

During his meeting with the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jenin Hennis-Plasschaert, the Iraqi president stressed the need for the dialogue to focus on "giving priority to the supreme national interest, reassuring citizens, consolidating civil and social peace and fortifying the country."

For her part, Blackshart affirmed the support of the United Nations mission for dialogue between all parties and access to paths that secure the protection of security and stability and meet the requirements of the Iraqis.

For her part, the US ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, announced yesterday that the United States will not interfere in the formation of the new Iraqi government.

During her meeting with Iraqi National Security Adviser Qassem al-Araji, the ambassador stressed that her country "looks forward to forming a strong Iraqi government capable of preserving its sovereignty and open to the international community."

She expressed her hope that "the relationship between the United States of America and Iraq will go beyond security cooperation to a more developed relationship in the commercial, economic and health aspects."

For his part, the Iraqi National Security Adviser stressed that Iraq "welcomes the killing of al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, and the need to continue pressure on al-Qaeda and ISIS to rid the world of the evil and criminality of terrorism."

Al-Araji stressed, "The Iraqis are able to solve their political problems, as they are an internal Iraqi affair, and we are working to create the conditions for a national dialogue within an Iraqi accord that injects Iraqi blood and preserves a united Iraq."

According to a statement by the Iraqi National Security Adviser, during the meeting, they discussed the latest political and security developments in Iraq and the region, and joint cooperation in the field of combating terrorism.
