The incident happened around 11pm last Friday at the One Wknd Only festival during a concert with the band Bolaget.
Erik Eriksson, who lives in Kristianstad, and his friends found a place to watch the concert where there was a railing that he could hold on to. He can stand for short periods but after a while he got tired and sat down in his wheelchair.
When his friends then lifted him up so he could see the concert better, a security guard reacted and shouted at them to put him down.
In the stress, Erik Eriksson fell out of the wheelchair.
- While I'm trying to get into the wheelchair, the guard comes over, bends down and tells me to leave the area.
And so it became.
Erik Eriksson was forced to leave the concert area and had his festival band cut off.
- It feels really awful.
It takes a toll and I feel discriminated against and violated, he says.
"Sad and dismayed"
Fredrik Berg, organizer of the festival One Wknd Only, believes that the incident is regrettable.
- From the festival's side, we are extremely sad and appalled at how this guest feels treated.
We will conduct a thorough investigation of the incident to ensure that our guests do not experience anything similar again, says Fredrik Berg.
Erik Eriksson says he will make a report to the Discrimination Ombudsman after the incident.
