Earlier, the US Senate passed a resolution calling on the State Department to recognize Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism due to events in Chechnya, Georgia, Syria and Ukraine.

The press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, said that the Kremlin negatively assesses the consequences for relations with the United States if Russia is recognized as a country that is a "sponsor of terrorism."
