The European Commission announces a joint purchase deal for about 250 million doses of the Corona vaccine

The European Commission announced a joint purchase deal today, Tuesday, in which 14 countries secured access to up to 250 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine from the Spanish pharmaceutical company Hebra Human Health.

EU Health Commissioner Stella Kyriakidis said in a statement that the commission signed the contract to prepare for autumn and winter.

The Commission stated that countries participating in the joint purchase agreement with "Hebra" can donate vaccines to other less wealthy countries if they wish.

It is noteworthy that the vaccine, which is currently being reviewed by the European Medicines Agency, is designed as a booster dose for people over the age of 16 who have already received the Corona vaccine.

The Commission indicated that once the vaccine obtains approval by the European Medicines Agency, the European Union countries can purchase the vaccines through the framework agreed with the company "Hebra".
