A 44-year-old man was indicted for murder and imprisoned in the investigation into the death of a 30-year-old by a stabbing at his home in Le Mans at the end of July, the city prosecutor's office said on Tuesday.

Another man, aged 38, was indicted for failure to provide assistance and modification of the crime scene, and also placed in pre-trial detention.

The two individuals "have already been convicted on several occasions, and in particular for acts of repeated violence and have already been imprisoned in the past", specified the public prosecutor of Le Mans Delphine Dewailly in a press release.

On the night of July 24 to 25, a 35-year-old man was injured at his home in Le Mans and died in hospital.

The investigation allowed "the identification of two friends of the victim, with whom during the evening the discussion would have soured, and would have led one of the two men to deliver the fatal blow", according to the same source.
