“Today we informed UN Secretary General António Guterres about the information we have about Ukraine’s responsibility for the attack on the pre-trial detention center in Yelenovka,” he wrote on Telegram.

Polyansky noted that Russia strongly condemns the attempts of the Kyiv regime to accuse it of this crime.

“They called on the UN to immediately give an objective assessment of what happened,” he stressed.

According to Polyansky, Moscow informed Guterres about the launch of an investigation by the Russian Investigative Committee with the involvement of international experts of this incident in order to identify and bring to justice the perpetrators of this crime.

At the moment, Polyansky noted, Moscow is waiting for Guterres' reaction.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces of Ukraine fired at the detention center in Yelenovka with captured Ukrainian soldiers and militants located there using the American HIMARS multiple launch rocket system.

The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case after the strike of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to RIA Novosti, fragments of the HIMARS MLRS ammunition were found at the site of the shelling of the pre-trial detention center in Yelenovka.
