Applause from the crowd, cheers for Germany, a goal celebration – but ultimately no celebration of victory: around 3,500 fans watched the final of the women’s European Football Championship on a 100 square meter screen in the Frankfurt Eintracht stadium.

For the first time in the history of women's football, there was such a public viewing in a large Bundesliga arena.

Of course, only a few national jerseys with names like Popp, Huth or an earlier legend like Birgit Prinz could be seen in the stands, instead names of male national players like Kroos or Götze dominated.

Eintracht player Anna Aehling, who appeared in proper style in the jersey of her teammate Sophia Kleinherne, who was on the bench at Wembley Stadium, generously gave these fans absolution: "The main thing is that they support women's football." On Monday, the team is no longer just up Screen to see: Around 4 p.m., the team, including four Eintracht players, will appear on the Römerbalcony after returning from England.
