  The "edition" in the National Version Museum of China takes a broad concept. In addition to the well-known book editions, all the resources bearing the imprint of Chinese civilization in ancient and modern China and abroad can be called "editions".

There are currently ten categories in the collection scope of the National Version Museum of China.

Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, all types of publications have been collected, and at the same time, it has absorbed ancient Chinese books, revolutionary documents, religious documents, engraved rubbings, inscriptions, family trees, coins and stamps, digital editions of film and television dramas and foreign boutique editions with historical and cultural heritage value.

  At present, there are more than 16 million editions in the collection of the Central General Library of the National Editions Museum of China, and the opening exhibits cover ten types of editions and tens of thousands of exhibits.

The important function of the National Version Library of China is to collect publication edition resources. In the three years since the construction of the project, more than 580 book publishing units and more than 10,000 newspaper and periodical publishing units across the country will be solicited from 2020 according to the new requirements of 4 copies of each type. version, and at the same time collect and preserve a sample of the digital version.
