Al-Sadr calls on all segments of the people to join the spontaneous, peaceful revolution in Iraq

Today, Sunday, religious leader Muqtada al-Sadr described the demonstrations and sit-ins of his supporters in the Iraqi parliament as "the spontaneous, peaceful revolution that liberated the Green Zone as a first stage."

Al-Sadr said in a tweet to him on his personal account on the social networking site on Twitter that these demonstrations and sit-ins are a "golden opportunity for all of the people stung by the fire of injustice, terrorism and corruption."

He added, "I hope that the tragedy and the first golden opportunity of 2016 will not be repeated because it is an opportunity to dispel darkness, darkness, corruption and exclusivity of power."

He addressed his supporters, "You are all responsible and all of you are at stake, either an Iraq lofty among nations or a vassal Iraq controlled by the corrupt, vassal and those with worldly ambitions, moved by the hands of the outside, east and west."

He called on clans, security forces, members of the popular mobilization and all segments of society to support the revolutionaries for reform to save your homeland, your dignity and prestige.

On Wednesday and Saturday, Iraqi demonstrators stormed the Green Zone and entered the parliament building, chanting slogans in support of religious leader Muqtada al-Sadr.

The demonstrators denounced the nomination of Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani to head the new Iraqi government.

It is noteworthy that a new government has not yet been formed in Iraq since the parliamentary elections that took place last October due to differences between the political blocs.
