Russia officially invited experts from the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross to Yelenovka for an objective investigation of a missile attack on a pre-trial detention center in which Ukrainian prisoners of war were held, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

At the same time, Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Representative of Russia to the UN, said that Moscow had conveyed to UN Secretary General António Guterres information that Ukraine was responsible for the attack on the pre-trial detention center in Yelenovka.

“We condemned the attempts of the Kyiv regime to shift the blame for this crime onto Russia (this, in particular, was what the Ukrainian permanent representative tried to do at the meeting of the Security Council on July 29).

They called on the UN to immediately give an objective assessment of what happened.

It was also reported that the Investigative Committee of Russia began an investigation into the shelling with the involvement of international experts in order to identify the perpetrators of this crime and bring them to justice, ”he wrote on his Telegram channel.

As previously indicated in the department, on the night of July 29, the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the US-supplied HIMARS fired at the pre-trial detention center in Yelenovka, where Ukrainian prisoners were kept, including militants of the Azov national battalion.

According to the latest data, 50 Ukrainians were killed as a result of the shelling, and another 73 people were injured.

Kirill Stremousov, deputy head of the military-civilian administration of the Kherson region, advocated expanding the geography of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine.

“In the long term, I have no doubt that a military tribunal will be held in Kyiv, where war criminals Zelensky, Turchynov, Poroshenko will be tried, who will be extradited by their Western partners,” RIA Novosti quotes him.

A referendum on joining the Russian Federation is scheduled for autumn in the Kherson region, the exact date of which has not yet been determined.

At the same time, local members of the public have already adopted a political declaration on the future development of the region called "Russian Kherson".

The document, in particular, states that the Kherson region is a historical part of Russia, and Russian, along with Ukrainian, will become the state language of the region.
