The Japanese government protested the Dokdo defense exercise conducted by the South Korean military.

The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly protested to the South Korean government, saying, "The training is absolutely unacceptable. It is very regrettable," NHK and other local media reported on the 30th.

The South Korean Navy and Coast Guard conducted a small-scale defense drill on Dokdo on the afternoon of the 29th, mobilizing only naval vessels, etc. without aircraft.

In response, Kyodo News analyzed, "The training was conducted for the first time since the Yun Seok-yeol administration took office in May."

The Japanese government, which claims sovereignty over Dokdo, is protesting and demanding a halt to the Dokdo defense drills conducted by the South Korean military twice a year.

In the 2022 edition of the defense white paper 'Japan's Defense' published on the 22nd, the Japanese government explained the security environment around it and said, "The northern territory (Japanese expression of the four Kuril islands) and Takeshima (竹島) and Takeshima (竹島), the indigenous territory of Korea (Japan)・The name of Dokdo claimed by Japan) The territorial issue still exists as an unresolved issue."

The Japanese government has repeated the deterrence claim in its defense white paper for 18 years since 2005.
