The police arrests that are in the police station are usually full during the festival and that is why they have now taken up the cart to avoid driving drunk people to Luleå.
But it's only in Piteå for a few days before it goes south to the next festival.
Place for four people
- This mobile detention center holds four people and it is not for arrested persons, but only those who are taken care of according to the LOB, the law on the care of intoxicated persons, says Thorbjörn Ebermark.
He continues:
- We know that Piteå Dansar och Ler is a well-attended festival where there are usually many drunk people, and our own prison capacity is usually not enough, so that is why we have chosen to use the mobile prison.
Hope for a continuation
Thorbjörn Ebermark says that the mobile drunk cell will be evaluated.
- We hope that it will be a continued addition to the equipment that we can request nationally when we need it.
