The authorities of the Chinese city of Wuhan decided to close a neighborhood on the outskirts of the city, for the first time that Wuhan has taken such a measure since 2020, which indicates that China is still far from returning to normal life after the Corona pandemic.

Wuhan is the first city to witness the first lockdown in the world due to the Corona virus (Covid-19).

More than two years after the city was closed to contain the mysterious phenomenon at the time, the authorities ordered the residents of the "Jiangxia" neighborhood, estimated at one million people, to stay in their homes and not go out unless necessary, according to Bloomberg News Agency.

The authorities also decided to stop all means of transportation and close all entertainment venues for a period of 3 days, after discovering 4 asymptomatic infections in the neighborhood last Tuesday.

This closure is not the first of its kind in China, as the authorities have closed many neighborhoods in different cities of the country in which cases of infection with the virus have appeared, as China follows a strict policy to contain the virus by intensifying examinations to detect infection, mandatory quarantine and isolation as soon as a few cases appear. .

Officials say that these measures helped China avoid a major public health disaster, such as what was seen elsewhere in the world during the Corona crisis, but this strategy has weighed heavily on the Chinese economy, which has recently begun to recover from the effects of the pandemic.

This coincided with the start of the capital, Beijing, to receive direct flights from abroad for the first time in more than two years, after China eased some of its restrictions within the border regime that is still the most stringent linked to the pandemic around the world.

It is noteworthy that in the year 2020, the Chinese Civil Aviation Administration banned direct flights to Beijing from abroad, and those who wished to go to the capital had to first land in a city among the list of cities prepared in advance, where it is subject to quarantine, and then complete the trip to Beijing.

The Aviation Administration had announced earlier this month that it would gradually resume international commercial flights, and would continue negotiations with specific countries to increase services.
