Before the summer holidays, a last council of ministers.

The President of the Republic wanted to bring together the members of his government for the last time this Friday.

On the program of discussions, a first assessment of the start of its second five-year term, but also a projection on the start of the school year and its key reforms.

Back from a diplomatic tour in Africa, and after a controversial dinner with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, Thursday evening, Emmanuel Macron wanted to bring together the members of his government one last time.

A first assessment

It is for the Head of State to make a first assessment of the start of his second five-year term: about purchasing power, the amending budget.

Plan for the start of the school year

It is also a question of planning for the start of the new school year, because the program already promises to be full: the reform of unemployment insurance will be on the table, the new finance bill as well, without forgetting the will of the government to accelerate the energy transition.

If this is the last council of ministers before the resumption, at the end of August, it is not yet the holidays for the members of the government.

Ministers and Secretaries of State have been asked to stay in Paris until next week and the end of the parliamentary session, scheduled at this stage for Sunday August 7.
