China News Service, Hong Kong, July 29th. The "Hong Kong and Southeast Asian Countries Economic Development Seminar" was held in Hong Kong on the 28th to discuss the economic development of Southeast Asia and the strengthening of cooperation between Hong Kong and Southeast Asia.

Participants believed that Hong Kong could serve as a "super-connector" between the mainland and ASEAN to help mainland enterprises enter the ASEAN market.

According to reports, the seminar was hosted by the Mirror Foundation, Hong Kong Economic Herald, and Hong Kong Indonesian Research Society, and was held online and offline.

Xu Shihe, Chairman of the Mirror's Social Responsibility Development Committee, Yuan Wu, President of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, Shi Lide, President of the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong, Chen Zuheng, Vice President of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, and Liu Bingzhang, Chairman of the Hong Kong Professional Federation, attended the event.

In his speech, Yuan Wu said that Hong Kong's accession to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) will help leverage its unique advantages in finance, professional services, talent and innovation, and deepen Hong Kong's role as a bridgehead for connecting and promoting the development of the Mainland and ASEAN. .

Hong Kong is well positioned to meet the growing financing needs of Southeast Asia, while also paving the way for mainland companies to enter the Southeast Asian market.

In his speech, Slim said that the world economic center is gradually moving eastward, and ASEAN is the fastest growing region in the global economy and Hong Kong's second largest trading partner.

He suggested that Hong Kong businessmen have a good understanding of the business conditions and industrial advantages of ASEAN countries, so as to make the best deployment, and even find some partners who are familiar with the local market to "go out together".

Chen Zuheng believes that the age structure of ASEAN's population is much lower than that of the mainland, Hong Kong and Europe and the United States.

Young people have strong purchasing power and pursue fashionable and cost-effective products, especially online shopping. Hong Kong companies can provide them and make good use of the booming e-commerce to reach local consumers or expand their existing business in the ASEAN market.

The popular Taobao products in the mainland may also meet the needs of this group.

Liu Bingzhang said that Hong Kong should be more proactive in assisting the "full" opening of the mainland, especially in promoting international "people-to-people exchanges", promoting people-to-people diplomacy, and establishing a relationship of mutual trust and interdependence between business and trade.

There is considerable room for development of the ASEAN service industry. Hong Kong's service industry is close to saturation. In this regard, it can help ASEAN countries, earn professional service income, and help mainland enterprises to go global and play the role of "super contacts".
