"The arrivals of Nando de Colo (who joined the club at the end of June, editor's note) and Joffrey Lauvergne represent a lot", welcomed Tony Parker, the Rhone president.

"It is in the continuity of our project, to bring Asvel as high as possible in Europe by putting French basketball forward. Their experiences will be extremely valuable in supervising this very ambitious group", added "TP" on the club website.

Lauvergne, 30, has 85 selections for the French team with which he was European champion in 2013 alongside Tony Parker, Nicolas Batum, director of basketball operations for Asvel and shareholder, Nando de Colo, one major recruits from Asvel this season or even Charles Kahudi and Antoine Diot, already members of the workforce.

The 2.11 pivot played three seasons in the NBA and played 210 games between 2015 and 2018, with Denver, Oklahoma, Chicago and San Antonio where he found Parker during the 2017-2018 season.

In Europe, Joffrey Lauvergne wore the colors of Châlon-sur-Saône where he started out as a professional (2009-2012) before playing in Valence (Spain, 2012), Partizan Belgrade (Serbia, 2012-2014), Khimki Moscow (Russia, 2014-2015), Fenerbahçe (Turkey, 2018-2020) or Zalgiris Kaunas (Lithuania, 2020-2022) totaling 117 Euroleague matches (9.1 points and 5 rebounds on average during his career) and finishing as the competition's top rebounder in 2014.
