Andalusia They condemn the Andalusian Health Service for not communicating a cancer to a patient who later died
The
Public Health Service of the Junta de Andalucía
in
Almería
is investigating an outbreak of gastrointestinal infection located in a hotel establishment in the municipality of
Mojácar (Almería)
and which
already affects 96 people.
This has been reported to Europa Press by sources from the
Health Delegation of the Andalusian Government,
who have detailed that all those affected show mild symptoms and do not require hospitalization, with a limited duration of 24 to 48 hours.
The first data from studies carried out with samples of patients who have attended health centers suggest that the symptoms, of a "mild" nature, which they describe as
nausea, diarrhea and vomiting
are due to a "viral process" by a possible
norovirus.
As transferred by the acting territorial Health delegate,
Juan de la Cruz Belmonte,
the outbreak was detected on Wednesday in people related to the Mojácar hotel establishment, while specifying that, for the moment, those affected rise to 96.
"From the studies we are almost certain that it is a viral process that is producing these symptoms, although we
continue with the investigation
to determine its origin," he indicated.
In this line, he has highlighted that, for the moment, they are "minor" symptoms and of a "mild nature", and while waiting to see how it evolves, he has indicated that
"none" of the patients have required admission
to the
La Inmaculada Regional Hospital ,
in
Huercal-Overa.
Health sources have indicated to Europa Press that the Public Health action began on Wednesday after the notice of health professionals from the Mojácar health center, who were alerted by the influx of people who reported stomach discomfort, as well as vomiting and diarrhea.
An epidemiologist and a veterinarian traveled to the hotel establishment to investigate, locate and isolate the origin of the outbreak, take samples and establish prophylactic measures that have included the "disinfection" of all the common areas of the hotel establishment.
