The Taiwanese army monitors the flight of an unidentified drone over Donjin Island

Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense said in a statement that a drone had been observed over Dongyin Island twice on Thursday, Bloomberg News reported.

The statement said the government does not rule out the possibility that the drone was used to test Taiwan's response measures.

The statement added that the army immediately sent a warning and stated that it would work to ensure the security of the area.

Taiwan military officials said in February that a Chinese civilian aircraft flew near an island controlled by Taiwan not far from the Chinese coast, likely intended to provoke or test Taiwan's combat readiness.
