's Office requests a 21-year prison sentence for Serafín Castellano, former Government delegate in

Valencia

, for the fixing of fire contests in favor of the

Avialsa

company , which gave him numerous gifts in return.

The Public Ministry attributes to him the crimes of falsehood, bribery, prevarication, embezzlement and illicit association in the framework of the so-called

fire cartel

case , which was revealed by

The Public Ministry maintains that Castellano "maintained an intense and corrupt relationship" with the businessman

Vicente Huerta

, owner of the aforementioned company, while he was "conseller in the Valencian Generalitat of Justice and Public Administrations between 1999 and 2000; of Health between 2000 and 2003 ; and of the Interior and Justice between 2007 and 2014".

"Both and the family and friends of Serafín Castellano", maintains the Prosecutor's Office, "shared multiple leisure activities in which they established the way of proceeding for the profit of Huerta and his companies on the occasion of the public contracting with the regional Administration ".

"Huerta made in return", adds the indictment of Anticorruption, "

In this way, "they understood each other so that, for the benefit of Avialsa, contracts were extended at the expense of the public treasury through undue extensions, the imposition of penalties for non-compliance with the conditions imposed in them was omitted."

But also so that "contracts were awarded and signed, without declaring them void, as appropriate, in the event of non-compliance with clauses established in the specifications and significant amounts were unduly paid."

"In return," summarizes the Prosecutor's Office, "Huerta financially rewarded Castellano" with "multiple hunts and hunts" as well as "material for hunting activities."

Among other gifts, as this newspaper revealed, "a Browning rifle for 1,861 euros" that was registered in the name of the then minister.

He also gave Castellano "excellent services in hotels and restaurants".
