Russia announces the arrest of 21 "accomplices" with the Ukrainian army

Officials of the Russian-appointed local administration in southern Ukraine announced Thursday the arrest of 21 "accomplices" with the Ukrainian army and security services.

The announcement of the arrests came a day after Ukrainian artillery bombed an important bridge in an area occupied by Moscow in southern Ukraine, which damaged an important supply corridor at a time when Ukrainian forces are seeking to regain control of the Kherson region.

The local administration loyal to the Kremlin in Kherson said that elements of the Russian guards had arrested 21 "accomplices" of the Ukrainian armed forces and the SBU security service, in the Moscow-occupied Kherson region and the partially controlled Zaporizhia region.

Various weapons and ammunition were seized, including 53 hand grenades and more than 24 kg of explosives.

The official RIA Novosti news agency, quoting a military source, said that the detainees were providing the Ukrainian army with information about the deployment of Russian forces in this city and its surroundings, allowing them to target Ukrainian missile targets.

Kherson, the capital of the region of the same name, is located a few kilometers from the front where Ukrainian forces launch a counterattack to retake these lands lost in the early days of the Russian offensive on Ukraine.
