- There is a significant impact on the staffing situation and we see that since Dansbandsvekkan the number of absences has increased significantly, says Anna-Karin Nygårds, acting head of social affairs in Malung-Sälen municipality to SVT Dalarna.

To resolve the situation, staffing and the personnel department have called around to the staff who are on vacation, appealed on the intranet, contacted pensioners and been in contact with the voluntary resource group, FRG.

Private individuals help

Through social media, they have also succeeded in getting private individuals to help in the crisis.

- We don't know how long it will last, but we expect it to be tough now and two weeks ahead, says Anna-Karin Nygårds.

Temporarily, an agreement has been reached with Kommunal that staff who break their holiday in the next two weeks will receive qualified overtime.

- The last thing we want as an employer is to interrupt people's holidays, when they really need their rest after the years that have been, so it is unfortunate.

"Toughest summer in a long time"

The personnel situation has been strained since before as it was difficult to get temporary workers to cover the holidays.

Calling in more people is therefore a difficult task.

- We don't have that many substitutes to take off since before.

This is the toughest summer in a long time.

It's a puzzle all the time and we've had fantastic help from our staffing, HR department and the staff to solve this, says Anna-Karin Nygårds.
