Commissioned by the President of the State.. Nahyan bin Mubarak inaugurates the Salem bin Ham Cultural Center

Commissioned by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, inaugurated today the Salem bin Ham Cultural Center in Al Ain.

The opening of the center was attended by Sheikh Muslim bin Salem bin Ham Al Ameri, member of the Advisory Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Salem bin Ham Cultural Center, and a number of dignitaries in the country and those interested in the field.

The ceremony began with the national anthem, followed by an introductory video of the center’s objectives and divisions, after which the attendees took an introductory tour around the center, during which they viewed the halls equipped with the latest technologies to host various types of cultural and community events. And the culture of the Emirates in addition to the heritage of the Arab region.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan said - on this occasion - that the establishment of the Salem bin Ham Cultural Center comes as a continuation of the great role played by the state since the days of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, "may God rest his soul", who drew his wise policy from the sources of Arab culture and strengthened it. His nomadic life and ancient heritage enabled him to have a sound opinion on his own, with the wisdom with which he was known.

He added, during the era of the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, may God have mercy on him, the state continued to consolidate the concept of culture in society based on the thought and approach of Sheikh Zayed, who believed since the beginning that building a human being is more important than building construction, and that building a human being on science and knowledge is the building block. The main pillar of the establishment of civilizations, and the main pillar of every country seeking renaissance and development. The culture and arts sector in the UAE, under the leadership of the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, made great leaps that were able to reach Emirati culture, heritage and art to global horizons.

For his part, Sheikh Muslim bin Ham Al Ameri said, "The establishment of the Salem bin Ham Cultural Center comes as a cultural and knowledge beacon in the city of Al Ain that complements the cultural renaissance of the Emirates, which is rich in various arts, as the renaissance of the Emirates is not limited to the urban aspect only, as it is accompanied by a parallel renaissance. It was represented in the development of human culture and thought.”

He stressed that the center constitutes a qualitative addition to the city of Al Ain, with its ancient heritage, and represents a scientific and knowledge edifice that consolidates the status of the country as a civilized destination, and enhances its efforts aimed at enriching the cultural scene and supporting the creative movement in the region and the world, thus contributing to accelerating the pace of intellectual achievements.

The center contains a number of halls equipped with the latest audio, video and lighting equipment to host conferences and private and public celebrations, in addition to a special hall for the collections of the late Sheikh Salem bin Ham and a library that includes selections from the most prominent historical, heritage and cultural publications, Arab and international, and a number of halls, including the Sheikh Salem bin Ham private hall With seminars, lectures, and Al Ain Hall, which can accommodate more than 2,500 people, to organize conferences, exhibitions, parties, and cultural and social activities in its various fields, in addition to an outdoor arena for national concerts that can accommodate more than 6,000 people.

The center contributes to strengthening the Emirati heritage building, documenting the stages of contemporary Emirati history and its societal memory, and participating in upholding the cultural edifices that our beloved country is witnessing today.
