During its 10th cycle, the "My Blood for My Country" campaign succeeded in collecting 39,200 units of blood, which contributed to saving the lives of 78,400 people, during its 10th cycle, which spanned a year, between June 2021 and June 2022.

Mai Raouf, director of the Dubai Blood Donation Center, told Emirates Today that the campaign aims to spread awareness and culture about blood donation as a humanitarian and national act, as well as attracting donors for the first time to expand the base of blood donors in the Emirate of Dubai and support the authority's database in emergencies. The initiative is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and is organized in a strategic partnership and cooperation between “Al-Amin Service”, the Dubai Health Authority, and “Emirates Today” newspaper.

Raouf continued: “The campaign aims to focus on the 18-30 age group (young people) to make blood donation part of a healthy lifestyle, and encourage government agencies in the Emirate of Dubai to support blood donation by participating in blood donation campaigns.

According to the statistics of the Dubai Health Authority, the "My Blood for My Country" campaign succeeded during its 10th session, which was concluded recently, in implementing 645 campaigns in private institutions, and 107 campaigns in government agencies, bringing the total donors during the session to 42,640 donors.

Raouf stated that about 66.7% of donors in the previous cycle of the campaign donated for the first time, while the percentage of young donors reached 23.63%, which reflects the campaign's achievement of its most prominent goals, which is to attract new groups to support its blood reserves.

The "My Blood for My Country" campaign was launched in its first session in 2012, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council.

His Highness was the first to donate blood, which contributed to the success of the initiative and encouraged community members to participate in it, especially after His Highness emphasized the importance of the initiative by saying that “blood donation is the best gift that a citizen and resident can give as an expression of love for the homeland, especially since there are sick and injured people in need. to every drop of blood.

The campaign has achieved successive successes over the past years, enhancing the stock and capabilities of the Dubai Blood Donation Center, and its ability to provide sufficient quantities of blood for patients in need, in various hospitals in the public and private sectors in Dubai.

The "My Blood for My Country" campaign, since its launch in 2012 until the 10th session, succeeded in implementing 941 campaigns, in which 70,257 donors participated. To support the blood supply of all species, especially the rare ones.
