European Union countries agree to reduce Russian gas consumption

European Union member states reached an agreement on Tuesday on how to cut gas consumption by 15 percent and reduce their dependence on Russian supplies.

"It was not an impossible task," said the EU presidency, which is currently held by the Czech Republic.

She added: "The ministers reached a political agreement to reduce gas demand before the next winter."
