• A man has been found guilty of malicious messages and death threats after sending thousands of text messages to his ex-girlfriend.

  • Since the separation almost ten years ago, the ex-spouse has continued to insult his ex before switching to death threats.

  • The latter tried to explain himself, evoking the difficult situation of the separation of his daughter.

More than 3,000 messages sent in 2021 alone. And already more than 1,100 SMS in the first half of 2022. Insults galore, death threats too.

It is a real telephone harassment of which a woman residing in Janzé (Ille-et-Vilaine) is the victim from her ex-spouse.

His lawyer evokes the fear in which his client lives, who has changed her number.

Her old line, she only kept it to collect malicious messages from her ex-spouse.

Each time she consults them, she has to face dozens of insults.

On Tuesday, this man in his fifties was sentenced by the Rennes criminal court for these repeated sendings of malicious messages and these death threats.

As a couple for four years, during which time they had a daughter, the man and the woman have been separated since 2013. From then on, the respondent never stopped bludgeoning his ex with text messages.

“I wanted to speak to my daughter but her mother does not answer.

I never have any news.

It's annoying when it doesn't respond, ”replies the father in an attempt to justify himself.

His defense was seriously undermined by reading the messages sent where he treats his ex as a "poor girl" or even a "pudding".

"Why do you want her to answer that?"

asks the president.

“I am not afraid of prison”

But there is worse.

In recent weeks, the man has been sending more and more specific death threats.

“If my dad leaves, you have to worry, you are on the front line.

I'm not afraid of jail.

You will cry, I will mark you for life, ”writes the respondent.

Sick, her father died in early July, increasing the victim's fear of seeing her ex arrive at her home.

When she filed her last complaint on July 14, the victim had just received a photo of her ex-stepfather on his deathbed, sent by her ex-husband.

Faced with these increasingly pressing threats, the defendant was placed in police custody and imprisoned to prevent him from approaching his ex.

"It's because of the alcohol.

The posts you read, I don't even remember.

I will never hurt him.

I love my daughter too much for that, ”defends the defendant, in a state of recidivism.

The judge responds curtly.

"But you're hurting him by insulting him like that."

And it is also your daughter that you are insulting”.

Aged 10, the child no longer wishes to see her father and even wrote a letter to evoke "the fear" and "the nightmares" of which she is a victim in the face of this situation.

Judged in immediate appearance, the man was found guilty of the facts of death threats and sending malicious SMS.

He was sentenced to twelve months in prison, including a four-month sentence.

The man is prohibited from coming into contact with the victim and prohibited from appearing at his home.
