China News Agency, Los Angeles, July 24 (Xinhua) -- At least two people were killed and five injured in a shooting in San Pedro, southern California, on the 24th.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Fire Department and local media, the shooting occurred at around 3:50 p.m. local time on the 24th, near the Pike Park baseball stadium on Western Avenue in San Pedro.

There were more than 500 people in the park at the time, many of them visiting a car show.

Although the car show was not licensed, it attracted a lot of people.

Eyewitnesses said people fled the scene in panic as soon as the gunshots rang out.

Four men and three women, aged between 23 and 54, were injured in the shooting near the auto show and were taken to the hospital, Los Angeles city fire emergency personnel said.

Two of the injured suffered cardiac arrest during hospitalization.

Police confirmed that night that two of the seven injured died of their injuries.

The Los Angeles Police Department said at least two gunmen may have been involved in the shooting, and detectives have recovered some weapons at the scene.

The police initially determined that the shooting was not a random attack, but a dispute between the two, and it has not yet been determined whether it is gang-related.

The Los Angeles Police Department dispatched a large number of police officers to block the scene that afternoon and activated tactical alert throughout the city.

After 8 p.m. that night, the police said through social media that detectives were investigating in Pike Park and there was no public safety risk at present.
