According to the current legislation, the legal representative of the heir under the age of 16 must register this car for himself, with the onset of this age - re-register for the child.

At the same time, tax legislation provides for the payment of transport tax by the person to whom the car is registered.

In this case, federal benefits are not provided for minors or their legal representatives (parents, adoptive parents or guardians).

At the same time, the law prohibits the owner under the age of 18 from driving a vehicle, and the child's guardian may not have a driver's license and only ensure the safety of the car until the age of majority of the dependent, Orlov noted.

“In this regard, I ask you to consider the issue of the advisability of amending the legislation regarding the exemption from payment of transport tax for cars owned by minor citizens as a result of inheritance, and which are not used by their legal representatives, until the owner reaches the age of majority,” the statement reads. the text of the appeal.
